Manifesting as three interconnected lines of enquiry: two-dimensional drawing, projection and sculptural installation, Amba's practice explores how research methods are performative in their enacting or crafting boundaries between what is present, what is manifestly absent, and othered. She considers the notion of the performative cut within her studio practice, using geometry to explore how drawing a line on a page is a simple and constitutive act of separation. Fundamental to the language of diagrams, architectural plans and maps, these lines as cuts are acts of demarcation that bring entities, units and worlds into being.
