"These porcelain scopes are objects of enquiry, ones that encourage the viewer to question the act of looking. They are designed to focus the viewer's attention on particular framed elements of the landscape; to set up curated lines of sight that engage the viewer with their surroundings. As artworks, one not only looks through them but at them, they are to be engaged with. The light that enables us to see what is framed also plays on the surface of the scopes bringing our attention to the nature of seeing and observing and how our inner landscapes shape the way we perceive what we see. By focusing the viewers attention they encourage us to inquire deeply about how we interact and experience the world. Above all they question the notion of humans as observers, of our perceived otherness regarding nature and its cycles."

Adam Buick (b. 1978 in Newport, Gwent) studied Archaeology and Anthropology at Lampeter University before enrolling in Art School in 2003 and undertaking a Ceramics and Design course in 2004. In January 2017, Adam received a Creative Wales Award from the Arts Council of Wales; allowing him to undertake creative experimentation and research to inform his future practice.
