The tyres of the Maguire is inspired by common shops that could be seen in a High Street in the UK, setting his characters in a place that could be virtually anywhere. Taylor draws inspiration from classic literary and historical figures—symbols of a once stable and reassuring past that now float in the disorienting universe. The makeup on the subject’s face obscures their identity while forming patterns reminiscent of ancient scripts, like hieroglyphs. These external embellishments suggest an escapist impulse, a way of concealing one's true self and seeking solace from the mundane everyday life.
