The charcoal and graphite drawing The squeaky course made with graphite and charcoal on paper, portrays an older man’s face, floating in the air, with his facial hair turning into a tentacled creature. This work speaks of the dissolution of the self and of us turning into animals when we go about our daily routines. Under the burden of the mundane with the repetitive tasks of daily life, we become automated and driven by instinct. Taylor reflects on how we become increasingly dominated by our habits, for example in the areas we carry our lives, which are restricted to very few locales.
