In The Ruinette, Taylor represents a distorted human figure, vibrant in colours, with a fluid and undefined identity which follows the oddly shaped canvas. The canvas is scratched and punctured, a testimony of the passage of time, as the work was stored in the studio for a long time. The character, almost like a ghostly harlequin, is depicted in thick layers of paint, and wears a shaman-like hat that blends into the textured background.
